Best Free Roofing Software in 2026 (And What Each One Costs You)

Three genuinely free options exist in this category. None of them is a CRM, and two of them quietly cost more than a subscription once you quote regularly. Here is the honest version.

The short answer

Roofr's free Starter plan (pay per measurement report) is the most useful free option for a roofer, because it produces something a homeowner will sign. Workiz's free plan covers two users for scheduling and invoicing. Everything else that markets itself as free is a 14-day trial — and Jobber's $29/month Core plan is usually cheaper than the workarounds.

Where free genuinely works

Where free costs you money

Three places, and they are the same three every time:

  1. Per-report fees at volume. Eight reports a month on a free plan costs more than a $109 subscription with discounted reports.
  2. Payment processing. Free tools often use a higher-rate processor. On a $14,000 roof, the difference between 2.6% and 3.2% is about $84 — per job.
  3. Your own time. The classic “free” stack is a spreadsheet, a calendar and a phone. Re-entering the same job three times is a real cost, just one that never appears on an invoice.

FAQ

Is there any completely free roofing CRM?

Not one we would recommend for a working roofer. Free plans in this category are scheduling-and-invoicing tools with a ceiling, not CRMs. Roofr's Starter tier is the closest thing to a free CRM, and it is pay-per-report rather than free.

What's the cheapest paid option that's actually usable?

Jobber's Core plan at $29/month billed annually for one user. It covers quotes, scheduling, invoicing and card payments — the four things a small roofer actually needs.

Can I start free and migrate later?

Yes, and you should. Contacts, jobs and invoices export to CSV from every tool we tested. Photos and documents are the painful part — keep your own copy of job photos outside any platform from day one.
